Practical Uses of Video Technology Archives

Wah, wah, wah. Wah-wah, wah wah.

That is how Charlie Brown’s teacher sounded to me. Do you remember her?

Probably not. We never got a chance to see her. Was she a “virtual” teacher? :-)

For some reason, she came to mind as I was studying webinars and their effectiveness as    marketing tools. The funny thing is I have been a version of Charlie Brown’s teacher for 7 years now.

Yes, I have been a distance education instructor for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina for 7 years.

Me? Teaching Online? NEVER!!!

When I majored in education in 1989 and when I went to graduate school in 1999, you couldn’t have told me that I would be teaching full-time behind a computer screen…nor could you have told me that I would learn to enjoy developing courses online, either.

I am the hands-on-interactive-type of teacher. I like to see, hear, and experience my students–their questions, their laughter, and get a feel for their personalities.

On Second Thought….

But, today, I have grown to love it. I love it for many of the reasons that I share in this video.

So, whether you are an educator, an entrepreneur, a pastor, or an advocate of some sort–you have people that you are trying to reach. You have something you want to teach, share, explain…and you may want to hear from those that you can reach from all over the world.

The Video Tutorial

In this video, I share four reasons that webinars are such incredible ways to communicate with your ideal clients–prospects, buyers…and even, students.

Find out why they are–

  1. Interactive
  2. Convenient
  3. Affordable
  4. Effective

And…why they open the gateway for you to continue connecting with your ideal clients on and off the internet.

According to Robert W. Bly, author of  The Marketing Plan Handbook,

Your niche describes the service you perform, for whom you perform it, and the results they can expect.

In today’s business world, competition is stiff. As a result, it is more advantageous to find a niche rather than to be a generalist.

Specializing in providing a more common product or service tailored to a specific niche market will garnish more results than providing the exact same product or service as the “competitors” in your category.

Attracting your niche via online video is a brilliant strategy. Why? Because 80% of online traffic will be driven by videos watched on the web in the next four years.

So, if people are watching, you may as well be there to give them what they are looking for, when they are looking for it.

A great place  to “channel” your niche market,  a place where you come alive is none other than your YouTube channel. It is a place where you can showcase your expertise in your industry, share your passion, and allow your ideal clients or business partners to “get a feel for you.”

Building inbound links is an effective way to lead ideal prospects to your YouTube channel.

Online video is taking the world by storm. Watching video online is becoming the norm for many, many people across the globe.

In fact, at least 62% of all individuals who use the internet are watching videos online every single day.

Who Is Watching Online Video?

In the past, 18-34 year-olds surpassed all other groups in terms of how much video that was watched online.

However, it seems that other demographics like 12-17 year-olds, as well as individuals over 35 are watching videos at the same rate as the 18-34 year-old group.

Interestingly, that group does watch videos longer than the other groups.

How Long Do We Watch?

Online video has grown in duration. The length of time that people are watching videos is increasing as well.

If you are an internet marketer, you have probably been told to keep your videos under 4 minutes because people have short attention spans.

It appears that if the content is something that people are interested in, their attention spans are increasing.

Long-form video, those in which the “story ark” is longer than 10 minutes, is becoming very popular.

According to Dan Peich of, this attention-span increase is a result of television broadcasters bringing their content online.

So What Does That Mean To You?

If you are a small business owner, an entrepreneur of any kind, it is imperative that you incorporate video in your marketing plan. You must “stay in the view” of your prospects of customers.

Watch this video to learn 6 reasons you should strongly consider establishing a video marketing presence on YouTube, the world’s largest video sharing community.
