About Mother Mary

Mother Mary is an esoteric Barbie Doll with blue eyes and blonde hair. Although the gold lines behind her resemble the cross, this forms her halo. The eyeballs project outward from Mary's closed eyes as if broadcasting SOS dots. The two blue eye balls sit direct and center. This can make your eye focus on just eyes but because they are in the exact center of the picture plane you can see but not see them. The two smaller circular eye ball shapes are suspended freely without any direction not so much a signal from Mary but separate entities.

The Veil mimics locks of golden hair which gives Mary a monochromatic look. This solidifies and strengthens her in the middle ground. Blue being the traditional color of her wardrobe is now scattered behind her like a bed of forget me not wallpaper. Instead of a circular crown halo, Mary has a halo of cut out people surrounding the base of her head which may represent children or descendants throughout history. The braided hair ties form an X pattern reminiscent of Medieval hair ties. The painting is painted in shades of the primary colors red, yellow and blue with gold not unlike the colors of Mary depicted in early Christian paintings.

At first glance, it looks as if her eyes may open at any moment. The overall feel of the painting emits warmth as if from the sun. She appears tan like a modern woman on vacation. You cannot help but wonder what is she thinking as it appears she could be deep in thought or just blinking her eyes from the sun. Mary is undoubtedly Caucasian somewhat like a pop icon but dripping with Christian flair.

The actual application of the paint is divided into three separate parts, the holy number. The background is painted in a pattern like a swatch of fabric, the eyeballs rough and scratched like contemporary art. Mary herself painted in realistic ecstasy with highlights and shadows. Her strong chin and wide face structure are perfect for holding the two center eyes in the apples of her cheeks. Her eyes closed she appears to be asleep lying on a bed of flowers. The blue eyes symbolize her consciousness and the other eyes floating around her head become the neutrons of an atom, Mary the mother of Christ.
